Dennis spent the next 3 days on the ESPERANZA and  got an even bigger surprise.  On December 27th he landed his first Sailfish at La Corbeteņa and decided to stick with salt water fishing for a while longer.  This beautiful Sail is now in the Mysterious Mounting Place so Dennis should expect to receive it sometime between 3 and 36 months.  Actually 13 months is their record but they are getting faster every day.

And why is this photo so dark?  Well, Dennis just did not want to quit and neither did Phil and Captain Danny.  They also landed 2 Dorado on the 27th.

The second day on the ESPERANZA was definitely the high point of the week.  Dennis fought (standing up with a belt) a fabulous 350 pound Black Marlin, 2 more Sailfish and a small Yellowfin tuna.  This was definitely not what Dennis had expected in his wildest dreams.  What a way to enter the Billfish Club!  At some point on the 28th Phil began lose it and started accidentally calling him Ned, one of Phil's all time favorite anglers (Ned Ludlow).  Phil felt that they were so much alike in their passion for fishing and he really wants to get them together for a trip sometime down the road.  And no Ned, this is not your Marlin, yours is still cruising around until October.

This photo is of Dennis and Captain Danny who was running the ESPERANZA for Captain Kurt while he was away visiting his family.  We have never seen Danny without sunglasses and his eyes look like they have never seen the sun.  This captain is going to lose his title 'El Guapo' (the Handsome Guy) unless he invests in some instant tanner.  Danny is a fantastic captain and fisherman and the team of him and Kurt Hjort make a charter with them entertaining, exciting and most likely very productive.  Dennis felt that he had made an excellent choice by fishing on the DISCOVERY and the ESPERANZA.
