Dennis Champ from Saskatoon fished on December 26th until December 30th with Phil and although we considered him a friend prior to his arrival, he soon became much more than that.  Good natured Dennis stayed in a condo right below our house and because of the close proximity, was forced to endure Phil's daily chores before and after his fishing charters (and in Phil's car no less!).  Did Dennis see the jungle or remote beaches?  No, but he did get an insiders experience of the Mega Commercial Mexicana and the task of running around Marina Vallarta, Los Peines and the gas dock while helping to get Phil's fishermen on the various boats in this extremely busy week.   We doubt that Dennis anticipated his extra duties as Phil's side-kick but he tolerated everything and was simply relieved that he was one of the few who did not have to push the fish-mobile (the flat tire did not count as a major inconvenience).

Dennis, an experienced angler has had a great deal of success with Northern species but had never had much luck in tropical waters.  This season he decided to give salt water fishing one last chance and chose Puerto Vallarta despite friend's advice that there were better locations in Mexico.

Dennis has to disagree after his 5 successful days of fishing in our waters.  He spent the first day on the DISCOVERY and it was action packed.  The days total catch was 10 Dorado and Dennis was thrilled because Phil had not led him to believe that late December was a particularly productive time of the year.  Did someone say Din Din?

What a great before and after shot of the Dorado that Dennis caught on the DISCOVERY.  The El Dorado Restaurant is not yet completed so Dennis enjoyed this fish at El Set and claimed that the service and meal was outstanding.  The rest of our family are enjoying it daily and will for months.

Phil is hoisting the Dorado flags on the DISCOVERY and he claimed that they will need to invest in more if fishermen like Dennis keep coming.  Notice that Dennis was given Phil in PV's much coveted 'Angler of the Year'  award for Expertise, Enthusiasm and Stamina.  (especially stamina, this guy never tired and seemed to be able to keep going all day and night)
