This is Sergio Escutia on Los Careyeros with an 18 pound Roosterfish, one of 12 that he and Phil caught and released on the 14th and 15th of December.  Sergio's skills and technique are fined tuned and his deep concern for conservation make him a valuable asset to sports fishing. 

You have seen many photos of Phil in PV but this one definitely shows the biggest smile on a totally elated Phil.  There are many forms of fishing but to hook a much sought after species, the Roosterfish on artificial bait from the beach is a thrill that few have the opportunity to experience.  Notice the difference between clean looking Sergio and dirty looking Phil?  Lesson number one should have been "Wear Black Phil".

Sergio is very experienced in targeting the locations where the Roosterfish can be found, there are certain characteristic features in terms of the depth, structure, the type of bottom that the surf is crashing over and other particular elements that create the ideal conditions for these fish to feed.
