Mike Perone began the month with a big hungry group who had the Chef at Quinta del Sol all fired up for a fish dinner but the catch of the day was just a Needlefish and it was hard to stretch this to feed the masses. Phil had his usual stash in the freezer so Mike's group had a chance to taste our local delicacies.
Old friend Dave McGuire partnered up with Grant and Dina Siedenburg for a day on the bay on the CAROLINA. Dina caught a Dorado and a slightly under the weather Dave perked up totally when he hooked a Sailfish.
George Januzzi, Paul Haast and Aldo Ceccarell (bear with me Aldo, I can't make out your last name) had reserved the DISCOVERY for the 7th of December. You may recall what the weather was like in the east on this day. Poor George got stuck in Houston overnight while his buddies were enjoying the balmy weather in Vallarta. Fortunately, we pushed the charter forward to the 8th and the boys had a great trip, hooking 9 Roosterfish and a Jack. In George's words he commented, "Phil, you make a hell of a sandwich". Thanks George, Phil thinks so too
Bob and Gay Hatcher and Clay and Loretta Sparkman arrived by cruise ship on the 18th and wanted to see how Puerto Vallarta compares to Cabo, where they have fished in the past. Vallarta held her own and the group landed 4 Sailfish, one that was 130 pounds.
Seth Marshall and his group were staying at beautiful Villa Mia near Boca de Tomatlan. They chartered 2 boats, the MAGNIFICO and the EL AMO. Captain Ceasar called and reported that the EL AMO was the mini tournament winner with 3 Dorado but the MAGNIFICO was a close second with 2 Dorado.
Howard Varinsky, his wife and teen aged daughter and son fished aboard the LILIANA on the 29th of December. Howard had originally planned on a combo day, troll for awhile and then try some bottom fishing so the kids did not get bored. Well, the kids did not have a chance to get bored. They landed a Sailfish and several Dorado.
Phil Pippin and his family visit Puerto Vallarta every now and then and stay aboard the yacht LAURA. Phil fished with Captain Miguel on the SOL two years ago and wanted to do the same on the 30th of December. One of the luxuries of a yacht vacation is the fact that your charter boat comes right to your front door so to speak. Miguel swung by the LAURA, anchored off El Anclote and they were off. The 'catch of the day' for Phil was 3 Dorado and 2 Roosterfish.
Thanks to everyone and if you have photos of your charters, please send them to us.
