Santa Phil and Adam (Spudsky)

December is an unusual month in Puerto Vallarta.  Although it is reported to be 'High Season', there are practically NO visitors for the first 3 weeks so we 'think' the fishing was excellent during this period but very few boats got out to try.  Fortunately the Christmas week filled up dramatically and the rest of the month was wonderful in every respect.  The fishing was surprisingly good, loads of Dorado were landed as well as Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish and even a  Marlin.

Phil had an unexpected surprise mid December.  World Class Fisherman, Sergio Escutia from Mazatlan came to visit and spent 2 days surf casting with Phil at Los Careyeros.  Sergio was always amused when he read about Phil's lure losing catastrophes and lack of success from the beach so decided to give him some expert instruction in this amazing sport.  And it finally happened, Phil caught his first big Roosterfish from the shore, something that he had dreamed about for years!

Read about this amazing adventure with Sergio Escutia.

Canadian angler, Dennis Champ spent 5 days fishing with Phil and got more than he bargained for.  He enjoyed Christmas week on the ocean during the day and running errands with Phil in the early morning hours and evenings.  Most visitors enjoy tropical tours but Dennis saw another side of Puerto Vallarta.  Fortunately Phil's new side-kick also saw some incredible fishing as well and will be the first to comment that Puerto Vallarta does not get nearly enough recognition as a World Class fishing destination.

Check out Dennis's experience on the DISCOVERY with Captain Cacho and Felipe.

And if you think things can't get much better than this, don't miss Dennis on the ESPERANZA!

Do you want to see a photo of the rock, La Corbeteņa that we are always talking about?

Check out Lee's experience, the Fisher Teen of the month and his own personal record breaking Dorado.

Do you want to hear about some team fishing that Dennis Champ enjoyed with Bob Gibb?

And don't miss Phil's awards for the year of 2002.  No prizes, just opinions.

And what was Phil's 'Injury of the Month".  Check out this careless guy's latest misadventure.  (and it looks like he was having a bad hair day as well)

Check out more December charters and their descriptions.  We don't have photos of these yet but will include them when they arrive.
